NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi began a two-day Gujarat visit on Monday, conducting a roadshow in Vadodara and announcing development projects worth over Rs 77,400 crore across multiple districts including Dahod, Bhuj, and Gandhinagar through May 27.A supporter in Dahod drew attention by getting a haircut with ‘Modi’ shaved into his scalp, celebrating the success of Operation Sindoor before the Prime Minister’s rally.During the Vadodara roadshow, Modi interacted with crowds waving Indian flags while family members of Indian Army Officer Colonel Sofiya Qureshi, who participated in Operation Sindoor media briefings, showered flowers on him.“We stand with India in the fight against terrorism. When they (terrorists) attacked tourists, India attacked the terrorist bases and not the civilians. We support India,” said a Zimbabwe student attending the roadshow.“We are very happy that PM Modi came to meet civilians. We are happy to cheer for Operation Sindoor. India has not targeted civilians in Pakistan. We stand for humanity. We stand against terrorism,” shared another student named Deepa.Modi will dedicate a Locomotive Manufacturing plant in Dahod that will produce 9000 HP electric locomotives featuring regenerative braking systems and energy-efficient designs for domestic use and export.The Prime Minister will flag off the Vande Bharat Express connecting Veraval and Ahmedabad, along with an Express train between Valsad and Dahod stations.In Dahod, Modi will launch development projects worth approximately Rs 24,000 crore and address a public function.The visit includes launching projects valued at over Rs 53,400 crore in Bhuj.The Prime Minister will conclude his visit in Gandhinagar on May 27, participating in the celebration of Gujarat’s 20-year Urban Growth Story and launching Urban Development Year 2025.The development initiatives span various sectors including power transmission projects for the Khavda Renewable Energy Park, network expansion, and an ultra-supercritical thermal power plant unit at Tapi.The projects also include developments at Kandla port and multiple road, water, and solar projects by the Gujarat Government.(With agency inputs)
