Kanpur: A 60-year-old man and his eight-year-old grandson were killed after a mud wall collapsed on them in Masavasi village under Sadar Kotwali police station of Unnao district on Wednesday morning.The incident took place when Hansram was brushing his teeth with his grandson Ayush near a standing mud wall in their house. Due to rain, the wall suddenly collapsed, burying the two under the debris. Hearing sound of the collapse, Hansram’s son Sujeet and other family members rushed to the spot and pulled the two out of the rubble. They were taken to the district hospital, where doctors declared both dead.Sadar Kotwali Inspector Chandrakant Mishra said the bodies were sent for postmortem.In a separate incident in Taraya village under Baberu Kotwali police station of Banda district, a man and his six-month-old daughter died while his wife and three-year-old daughter were seriously injured after a wall of their house collapsed on Tuesday night.According to reports, Rajesh Singh (40) was at home with his wife Savitri Devi (35) and two daughters, when their neighbour’s wall suddenly fell on the wall of his house, causing it to collapse. Rajesh, Savitri Devi and their two daughters were buried under the debris.Other family members and villagers pulled them out and rushed them to the community health centre in Baberu, where doctors declared Rajesh and his six-month-old daughter Rashmi dead. Savitri Devi and their three-year-old daughter Lakshmi, who sustained serious injuries, were referred to the district hospital after receiving primary treatment at the CHC.
