Srinagar, Aug 16: The complete poetry anthology “Bayaz-e-Wahab Khar”, based on the works of renowned Kashmiri Sufi saint and poet Wahab Kar was formally unveiled on Sunday during a special ceremony held at Wahab Khar Hall, Shar Shali area of Pampore Tehsil.
The event was presided over by noted intellectual and writer Dr. Satish Vimal and was attended by prominent poets, writers, scholars, intellectuals, religious scholars and people from various walks of life.
Among those present were Mushtaque Barq (The Chief Editor of the anthology), writer and critic Dr. Ghulam Nabi Haleem, editor Fayaz Arif, Professor Javaid Ahmad Dar, famed musician Krishan Ji Langu and Advocate Ashiq Hussain, besides several other prominent personalities.
A special musical programme was also organised during the event, in which eminent folk artists presented Sufi compositions, including selected verses of Wahab Sahib Khar. The soulful performances added to the spiritual and literary ambience of the gathering.
In his presidential address Dr. Satish said that this is a well-researched anthology of Wahab Khar comprising of all authenticated poetic compositions of the spiritual bard with corrected text after years of research work by a team of experts headed by Mushtaque Barq.
“The poetry of Wahab Khar is the significant spiritual treatise of Kashmir. The work done by Idara-e-Auqaf Wahab Khar shrine is praiseworthy. Sheikh Waseem of Kitab Mahal has added to the quality of the publication. It is hoped that the translations of Wahab Khar’s selected compositions is done for wider readership in near future”, he said.
