Belagavi: Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) has set a new benchmark by announcing the results of its sixth-semester engineering examinations just five minutes after the exams concluded on Tuesday. The results were jointly released by VTU vice-chancellor Prof S Vidyashankar and registrar (evaluation) Prof UJ Ujwal.
According to the university, 60,856 students appeared for the sixth-semester BE and BTech examinations. The exam concluded at 5.30pm, and results were announced at 5.35pm. VTU officials said evaluation and result processing were completed 21 days ahead of the usual schedule. The university recorded a pass percentage of 76.8%.
Speaking after releasing the results, Prof Vidyashankar said the university had made detailed preparations to ensure students received results without delay. “Students eagerly await their results. Hence, we decided to announce them as quickly as possible. With proper planning, we released the results immediately after the examination. Earlier, we had announced final-year results within 10 minutes. I congratulate the VTU administrative staff, examination section staff and staff of affiliated colleges for making this possible,” he said.
Prof UJ Ujwal said the use of digital evaluation and careful planning helped the university achieve the milestone. “We adopted digital evaluation and made preparations to announce the results quickly. This was possible due to everyone’s cooperation,” he said.
VTU had earlier announced the results of 56,000 final-year students within 10 minutes of exam completion in 2026. In 2025, results of 50,321 students were announced within one hour. For sixth-semester examinations in 2024–25, results of 58,232 students were declared within 10 days.
