Guwahati: Kamrup (Metro)’s final electoral roll has been published with 10,49,644 voters, marking a net drop of 25,932 from the draft roll.The draft electoral roll published on Dec 27 last year had 10,75,576 voters. After door-to-door verification by booth level officers (BLOs) and disposal of claims and objections, the final count fell by 2.47%.

“Subtracting the inclusion (27,410) from the deletion (53,342), we find a decrease of 25,932 voters in the final list from the draft roll, a 2.47% decrease,” district election officer Manash Jyoti Bora said.Bora added that the primary reasons for deletions were death, permanent shifting and multiple entries. Official data shows 53,342 names were deleted during the Special Revision for reasons including death, permanent shifting, absent or multiple entries across polling stations. During the same period, 27,410 voters were added, including 18,126 new voters and 9,284 names included in their respective constituencies due to shifting of residence.Constituency-wise, the voter count fell by 4,310 in CM Himanta Biswa Sarma’s home constituency Jalukbari, 6,570 in Dispur, 4,150 in newly created Dimoria (SC), 4,569 in newly shaped and renamed New Guwahati, and 6,333 in newly shaped and renamed Guwahati Central, according to the data shared by the district election officer.In Jalukbari, the final roll lists 2,06,314 electors, down from 2,10,624 in the draft roll, a decline of 4,310 voters or 2.05 per cent, as per a press release by Kamrup Metropolitan district authorities. The constituency has 1,08,654 women and 97,653 men, along with seven third gender voters. The release said 2,754 men, 1,555 women and one third gender voter were deleted from the draft list.Sarma, the second BJP chief minister of Assam, has been a five-time MLA from Jalukbari since 2001. He won the seat as a Congress candidate in 2001, defeating AGP’s Bhrigu Kumar Phukan, and retained it three times for the Congress before winning in 2016 and 2021 on a BJP ticket.In Dispur, the final list has 1,26,137 women, 1,17,027 men and 12 third gender voters. The data shows deletions of 4,153 men, 2,415 women and two third gender voters from the draft list.In New Guwahati, the final roll lists 1,00,045 women, 91,398 men and four third gender voters, with deletions of 2,992 men, 1,576 women and one third gender voter.In Guwahati Central, the final list includes 97,788 female and 93,967 male voters, along with three third gender voters. Deletions in the constituency include 3,918 male, 2,414 female and one third gender voter.In Dimoria, the final roll has 1,11,559 female, 1,05,384 male and six third gender voters. The data shows 2,142 male and 2,008 female voters were deleted.An official statement said voters whose names were deleted can appeal to the district magistrate within 15 days, with a second appeal window available to the CEO within 30 days.
