Prayagraj: Residents of Bhualpur Quila village and adjoining areas on Wednesday took up a pond cleaning and water conservation exercise in Pratapgarh district as part of the ‘Mera Talab, Meri Zimmedari’ (My Pond, My Responsibility) campaign. The volunteers of different organisations including Paryavaran sena cleaned the pond and conveyed a message regarding the conservation of water bodies.The motto of the campaign was to keep traditional water bodies ie ponds clean and preserved, while also raising awareness about the growing threats of water pollution and plastic waste. Volunteers along with locals removed plastic and other waste from the pond premises, demonstrating the importance of public participation in water conservation and environmental protection.During the event, villagers, volunteers, and citizens present were administered a pledge to conserve water, protect the environment, and build a plastic-free India. People resolved to keep their village and surrounding water bodies clean and to minimise the use of single-use plastic. The volunteers will be taking up the campaign in other villages.
