TNNThiruvananthapuram: Vizhinjam International Seaport received 1,000th ship on Wednesday. Mothership MSC Luciana docked at the port around 5pm.The port handled around 4,000 containers from the ship, which has a capacity of around 11,000 containers.The port has achieved the feat in two years after ships started arriving on July 2024.So far, the port has handled 21.13 lakh containers.The port is currently undergoing expansion under Phase II and is also ready for moving containers by road and NHAI has also conducted a trial for the purpose. Now, containers brought by motherships are moved to other ports by feeder ships.
