One of the injured in fox attack

Bokaro: Twelve people were injured in fox attacks across several villages in Kasmar block on Wednesday. The fox, which allegedly was involved in all the attacks, was later killed by locals when it tried to attack a group of people again.Ruhi Kumari, a 4.5-year-old girl, sustained injuries to her face after she was attacked by the fox outside her house in Nawadih village around 7:30 am. She was taken to Kasmar community health centre for treatment. Ruhi’s father Nirmal Mahto said the fox suddenly appeared and pounced on her while she was playing.Throughout the day, the fox apparently travelled between Nawadih, Bagda, Tangtona, Purni Bagiyari, Lalmatia and Raghunathpur villages and injured 11 other people.Besides Ruhi, the fox injured Rahul Mahto (32) and Rahul Kumar (25) in Nawadih village. It also injured Gautam Kumar Swarnkar (47) in Bagda, Radha Mahto (75), Lalmani Devi (30) and Parvati Devi (30) in Tangtona village, Rakesh Kumar Mahto (10) in Purni Bagiyari, Julie Kumari (17), Anup Kumar Mahto (30) and Jhallu Devi (65) in Raghunathpur village and Budhni Devi (33) in Lalmatia village.However, the fox was cornered when at an agricultural field in Raghunathpur. As it attempted mount a fresh attack, locals then confronted the animal and killed it.A forest official of Bokaro division, Sundeep Shinde said, “Injured villagers were brought to Sadar Hospital for medication. The forest team has reached the spot.”
