Rajkot: The Jamnagar administration swung into action after a case of cholera was confirmed at Lakhabaval village of Jamnagar taluka. The district magistrate issued a notification immediately declaring Lakhabaval village a “cholera-affected area”.To prevent further spread of the disease, a two-kilometre radius around the village was designated a “cholera-threatened zone” under Section 3 of the Epidemic Diseases Act of 1897.According to a statement from the district administration, the taluka development officer (TDO) of Jamnagar was appointed the cholera control officer for the affected and threatened zones and was granted all necessary powers by the district magistrate. Residents in the vicinity are urged to follow all public health directives from the control officer.
