COIMBATORE: MDMK principal secretary and Lok Sabha member Durai Vaiko on Thursday said Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) had created an attraction that was drawing cadres from other parties, and it could not be termed a mistake.Speaking to reporters at Coimbatore airport, Durai said TVK had brought about a change that leaders such as G K Moopanar, Vaiko and Vijayakanth could not, cutting across caste, religion and money power, leading to a pull among party workers. On the reported loss of a hard disk from the electricity board headquarters in Chennai, Durai said officials should act and police should ascertain why it had been stolen. On farm loan waiver, he said the new govt and ministers concerned had explained the position. He said the govt had indicated efforts to waive more farm loans in the coming period and expressed hope that a white paper on finances would clarify what promises were feasible and what could not be implemented immediately.Durai said MDMK had been in the DMK-led alliance for over 10 years and there was no situation now to support TVK. “Any future decision will be taken by the party’s general council,” he said.On law and order, he said crime-free conditions were impossible and arrests were being made as in previous regimes. Citing administrative reshuffles, he said the govt should be given six to 12 months to deliver results.
