The Tamil Nadu Cyber Crime Wing has captured the alleged accused behind the online leak of footage from Vijay’s yet-to-be-released film ‘Jana Nayagan,’ directed by H Vinoth. The arrest comes months after clips from the unreleased film appeared on social media platforms.According to India Today and the Cyber Crime Wing, the accused had been missing for some time before the officials tracked him down and arrested him on June 10. Additionally, another person linked to the piracy network was also taken into custody.With these latest arrests, the total number of people detained in this case has reached 19.
Investigation started after footage leaked online
The case started in April after the makers of ‘Jana Nayagan’ complained that footage from the film was accessed and shared online without permission. The leaked clips quickly spread online on social media and other websites.The team expressed concern over the leak as the movie was still awaiting its official release. Officials said the latest arrests happened after detailed digital tracking and investigation. The newly arrested person is believed to have played an important role in sharing the leaked footage online.
‘Jana Nayagan’ release delay
For the unversed, earlier, several people were arrested during the investigation, including a freelance editor accused of accessing and sharing the footage. The issue also affected the editing department. Editor Pradeep E Ragav was suspended by the editors’ association for working with a freelance editor who was not registered with the organisation. However, the association said that Ragav was not directly involved in the leak.On the other hand, ‘Jana Nayagan’ is still waiting for clearance from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The makers are yet to announce a new release date for the film.

Speaking about the film, it stars Vijay in the lead role along with Mamitha Baiju, Pooja Hegde, Prakash Raj, Bobby Deol and Gautham Vasudev Menon.
