Officials said poor visibility inside the premises has slowed down the operation, as the team is still trying to locate the exact position of the leopard within or around the campus.

A leopard has been sighted inside a school in Ghaziabad. As per reports, a leopard was seen early morning today inside Green Field School in Govindpuram, Ghaziabad, forcing authorities to shut the campus on Wednesday morning. Forest officials rushed in to the spot and sealed the area. The officials are carefully searching the area to safely capture the animal. The authorities have also advised people living in the nearby areas to remain cautious.

Forest department rushes in after CCTV alert

The Forest Department reached the school soon after the alert from school authorities. Divisional Forest Officer Isha Tiwari said the call came early in the morning after the animal was seen on the school’s security cameras.

“The school authority called us around 7:50 in the morning. They shared a video from the outer security camera, showing an animal coming and going. It appears to be a leopard. After spotting the leopard, our team arrived at 8:30 in the morning,” the official said.

As a safety step, the school has remained closed since morning. Students and staff were not allowed to enter the premises while the search continued.

A trained tranquilisation team equipped with specialised gear has been called in to safely capture and relocate the animal. Officials said the operation is being handled with caution to avoid harm to the leopard or people nearby.

Residents asked to stay away

The Forest Department has urged people living near the school to remain alert and not gather near the campus until the situation is under control. Officials are continuing to monitor the area as the search and capture operation goes on.The administration issued a formal advisory for the residents, urging them to remain inside the house. Additionally, the authorities have cautioned the public not to circulate rumours on social media.
