Hassan: The ambitious trial run of Vande Bharat train in the ghat section between Sakleshpur and Subramanya Ghat road station started on Wednesday. “The trial run, conducted in both directions, was a one-day exercise, explained South Western Railway sources.The train arrived at Sakleshpur railway station at 6am and was greeted by localites led by local MLA cement Manju. It can be recalled that the electrification work has been completed up to Sakleshpur, paving the way for Vande Bharat operations on the route.The Sakleshpur MLA had met Union minister of state for railways V Somanna and submitted a request to take steps to introduce Vande Bharat services via Sakleshpur. The successful trial run has brought renewed hope among residents of Hassan district, who have been demanding better and faster rail connectivity for a long time.Local residents are now hoping that the Vande Bharat Express will operate daily on the Bengaluru–Mangaluru route, bringing a long-awaited dream of the people of Hassan district closer to reality.
