Vasco: The port town is set for a major transformation, with infrastructural projects worth Rs 140 crore in the pipeline, MLA Krishna Salkar said on Tuesday. Dilapidated old buildings will be demolished and replaced with well-organised structures.Salkar said a modern market complex along with a fruit and vegetable market is planned to provide better facilities for the public. He said the transformation is expected to be completed in two years, with a focus on improving civic amenities. A flyover from Varunapuri junction is also being planned to prevent accidents.“High-speed movement of loaded trucks through busy junctions pose a safety hazard,” Salkar said, adding that speed breakers will be installed at major junctions as an immediate precaution.He said a flyover would be a long-term solution to regulate heavy vehicular movement, ease congestion and reduce accidents.
