Nagpur: A parked van was completely gutted after it suddenly caught fire at Zenda Square on Friday afternoon, triggering panic in the area amid soaring temperatures touching 44°C.According to fire department officials, the incident was reported at 2:37pm, following which a team from the Ganjipeth fire station rushed to the spot. However, by the time firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control, the vehicle was completely destroyed. The van belonged to Rugved Pharmacies Medicine Company, and the loss is estimated to be around Rs6 lakh. No injuries were reported in the incident. While the exact cause of the fire is yet to be confirmed, officials said a forensic examination will determine the origin of fire. However, preliminary inputs from experts suggest extreme heat may have played a role in triggering the blaze, possibly due to overheating of components or inflammable materials inside the vehicle.TOI had earlier reported an increase in vehicle fire cases during peak summer, with prolonged exposure to intense heat emerging as a common risk factor.Fire officials have advised vehicle owners to avoid parking under direct sunlight for extended periods and to regularly check wiring and fuel systems to prevent such mishaps.
