Mandya: The Melukote Sri Cheluvanarayana Swamy Vairamudi Brahmotsava will be held from March 23 to April 4, with the grand Vairamudi — the sacred crown-wearing ceremony — scheduled for March 28.Mandya district minister N Cheluvarayaswamy on Saturday directed officials to make comprehensive arrangements to ensure a smooth and hassle-free experience for devotees.At a review meeting in Melukote, the minister stressed the need to provide essential infrastructure, stringent security, and efficient crowd management, as lakhs of devotees are expected to attend. He instructed officials to prioritise drinking water, sanitation, and medical facilities.He also asked the police department to maintain peace during the crown procession and urged coordination with temple priests to ensure the event is conducted in an orderly manner.The minister reiterated that all departments must respond swiftly to any logistical challenges and focus on providing devotees with a safe, comfortable, and spiritually-enriching experience during the world-renowned festival.Melukote MLA Darshan Puttannaiah highlighted the need to prevent water shortages and called for proper barricading to manage large crowds effectively.Mandya deputy commissioner Kumara said preparatory meetings have been held to ensure systematic arrangements for drinking water, sanitation, parking, and traffic management. The plan also includes healthcare services, KSRTC bus facilities, and enhanced police security to handle the expected surge in visitors.
