Vadodara: The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) on Wednesday declared the Class 10 board examination results, with Vadodara district registering an improved pass percentage of 78.38%, up from 76.65% last year.According to official figures, 38,369 students had registered for the examination in the district, of whom 37,993 appeared. A total of 29,778 students were declared EQC (Eligible for Qualifying Certificate).Among the city’s top performers, Vedant Patel secured 99.98th percentile, while Samarth Prajapati of Jay Ambe Vidyalaya in Harni scored 99.95th percentile.Samarth, son of an interior designer, said he aims to pursue a career in artificial intelligence and engineering and plans to opt for the science stream. He credited his performance to disciplined study habits and family support.Prachi Prajapati, who secured 99th percentile, said she plans to pursue commerce and later complete a BCom degree.The board also announced that students would be allowed to appear for supplementary examinations in all subjects. Under the “best of two” policy, the higher score between the main and supplementary examinations will be considered final, allowing students to improve their performance without losing earlier marks.In the grade-wise distribution, 1,582 students secured A1 grade, while 4,388 obtained A2. As many as 5,617 students were placed in B1, 6,307 in B2, 6,847 in C1 and 4,531 in C2. A total of 504 students secured D grade, while 5,180 were placed in E1 and 3,035 in E2. Two students were categorised under E1, indicating they passed with 20% marks as per board norms.Despite 60% vision loss, student scores 83%Vadodara: Overcoming significant visual impairment, Aditya Acharya, a Class 10 student of Urmi School, scored 83.3% and secured 87.87th percentile in the English-medium board examinations, the results of which were declared on Wednesday.Aditya, who has been affected by albinism since birth, suffers from nearly 60% vision impairment, making it difficult for him to read books, newspapers or even see the blackboard clearly in class. Family members said his condition causes constant movement of the eyeballs, affecting his ability to focus on text.Despite sitting on the front bench, Aditya often relied on listening carefully to classroom teaching as he could not clearly read what was written on the board. His grandfather, 76-year-old Dipak Acharya, played a crucial role in his preparation by reading out lessons to him regularly throughout the academic year.His mother, Krupa Acharya, said Aditya has consistently performed well in academics, scoring above 80% since primary school and even securing the first rank in Class 1. “There is no treatment for his condition, but he has always believed he can overcome challenges,” she said.His father, Mihir Acharya, who works with a food company in Jambusar, and other family members said Aditya never allowed his limitations to affect his confidence or determination.Aditya credited his parents, teachers, classmates and grandfather for their constant support.He now plans to pursue commerce and aims to prepare for competitive examinations in the future, with the goal of clearing the GPSC.Idli-vada vendor’s son shines with 99.56 percentileVadodara: Henil Panchal, son of an idli-vada vendor near Tower crossroads, has scored an impressive 99.56th percentile in the Class 10 board examinations.Henil’s achievement stands out as a story of discipline and determination. His father, Rahul Panchal, has been running the food cart for over 26 years, while his mother, a Class 10 pass-out and homemaker, has been a constant source of encouragement.Relying largely on self-study, Henil said he initially attended tuition classes but later realised that studying on his own worked better for him. “I made it a point to attend school regularly and followed a strict study schedule at home. Self-study helped me stay focused,” he said.His parents expressed immense pride in his achievement, describing him as a dedicated student with a strong grasping ability.Henil now plans to pursue commerce and aims to become a chartered accountant. His elder sister, Dhvani Panchal, is currently pursuing hospitality and tourism management after completing her Class 12.
