The students from economically weaker and underprivileged sections who desire to appear for the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and Provincial Civil Service (PCS) will not have to face financial constraints for coaching, etc. Thanks to a wonderful scheme by the Yogi government, which is going to help fulfil the civil service dreams of youth. The economically weaker members from the Scheduled caste, the Scheduled Tribe and Other Backward Castes (OBCs) are entitled to be a part of the Residential Coaching Scheme run by the Social Welfare Department of the Uttar Pradesh government. The free IAS/PCS Residential Coaching programme is emerging as a new ray of hope for the aspirants.Under the Residential Coaching Scheme, to be commenced from August 2026, economically weaker candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, the Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes will get an opportunity to prepare for administrative services. Over five thousand aspirants have already registered for this scheme.According to Sanjeev Singh, the Director of the Social Welfare Department, “a total of 865 seats have been fixed in the state for economically weaker candidates belonging to SC, ST and OBC. Out of these, 25 percent seats are reserved for students who have qualified the preliminary examination through lateral entry. This will provide better guidance to candidates who have already succeeded in the preliminary stage of competitive examinations and are preparing for the main examination.”The interested aspirants will have to go through an exam, after which the selected candidates will be provided with preparation through Residential Coaching. The statistics on the basis of online registration show that a large number of youth from different districts of the state are coming forward to take advantage of this opportunity.Preparing for civil services examinations often requires spending lakhs of rupees at private coaching institutes. For students from economically weaker and underprivileged sections, this becomes a major challenge. In such a situation, the Yogi government’s free coaching scheme has brought relief to these youth. The objective of the scheme is to provide quality guidance to talented candidates and help them succeed in competitive examinations. He said that under the guidance of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the utmost transparency is being maintained in the entire election process and classes. The priority of the Yogi government is that financial hardship should not come in the way of any talented student’s dreams. With this objective, free coaching, study material and expert guidance are being provided. This initiative of the Yogi government is not only opening new doors of opportunity for youth but is also strengthening social inclusion in administrative services. This is unique in the sense that at this level, no government in Uttar Pradesh ever thought of such an initiative, and that too for economically weaker section students.
