Gorakhpur: Students must use social media and artificial intelligence (AI) responsibly and with discretion, said advocate Shubhendra Satyadev while addressing a lecture on ‘The Role of Social Media and AI in Life’ at Mahayogi Gorakhnath University (MGUG) on Monday.The programme was organised by the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences as part of the university’s Deeksharambh-2026 orientation series.Speaking to students, Satyadev highlighted the growing influence of social media and AI on modern life, describing them as powerful tools that have transformed communication, learning and decision-making. He said social media is no longer limited to connecting people but also shapes public opinion, behaviour, decision-making and social relationships.Discussing the impact of AI, he said the technology has brought unprecedented speed, efficiency and convenience to various aspects of life. However, he cautioned that indiscriminate or unethical use of AI could pose challenges to human sensitivity, original thinking and creativity.Satyadev urged students to adopt a balanced and informed approach while using digital platforms and emerging technologies. He also stressed the importance of maintaining digital ethics and critical thinking in an increasingly technology-driven world.During the interactive session, students raised questions on social media addiction, fake news, cyber security, digital ethics and the future of AI. The speaker responded with practical examples and advised students to become responsible digital citizens.
