A US court has entered a final judgment against Adani Group chairman Gautam Adani and Sagar Adani, ordering them to pay a combined civil penalty of $18 million in a case filed by the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

The US District Court for the Eastern District of New York entered the final judgment on consent on August 10, 2026, Adani Green Energy said in a regulatory filing on Tuesday.

Under the judgment, Gautam Adani has been ordered to pay a civil penalty of $6 million, while Sagar Adani has been ordered to pay $12 million. Both have also been permanently restrained and enjoined from violating certain provisions of the US Securities Exchange Act of 1934 and the Securities Act of 1933.

The final judgment disposes of the SEC’s civil complaint against the two Adani executives. They consented to the judgment without admitting or denying the allegations made in the civil complaint, according to the filing.

The penalties are required to be paid to the SEC within 30 days of the entry of the final judgments. The court can enforce the penalties through collection procedures authorised by law, while unpaid amounts after 30 days will attract post-judgment interest.
The SEC’s civil complaint had alleged that Gautam Adani and Sagar Adani violated certain provisions of the Securities Act and Securities Exchange Act and a related rule, and had aided and abetted Adani Green Energy’s alleged violations of the US securities laws.
