Prayagraj: The Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) has intensified preparations for a fresh round of teacher recruitment after conducting the Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test (UPTET)-2026 and declaring its results. The commission has received requisitions for 2,615 lecturer posts in non-govt aided secondary schools.Officials said there will be no change in the prescribed educational qualifications for lecturer posts. The commission is currently scrutinising the vacancies and is likely to issue an advertisement in the first week of Sept. The directorate of higher education has also submitted a revised requisition for around 1,930 assistant professor posts after the commission raised objections to its earlier proposal. Initially, the directorate sent an online requisition for 2,107 posts. The commission objected to the inclusion of BEd as a subject and flagged discrepancies related to the creation of posts and eligibility criteria in several other subjects. The BEd eligibility issue is also linked to the recruitment of 107 BEd posts advertised under Advertisement No. 51 in 2022, a matter currently pending before the high court. To avoid further complications, the revised requisition has removed BEd as a subject and addressed other discrepancies. The developments follow a coordination meeting held on Aug 21 between officials of the concerned departments and the commission. The meeting was convened in line with chief minister’s directive to resolve issues related to educational qualifications and other aspects of teacher recruitment through consultations among stakeholders. With the key objections addressed, officials expect the recruitment process for lecturers and assistant professors to gather pace. If scrutiny is completed as scheduled, advertisements for both recruitments could be issued in the first week of Sept.
