Ghaziabad: The state govt has sought a detailed report from Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) on the proposed international cricket stadium’s feasibility, financial viability and cash flow. It has raised 14 queries on the project, jointly planned by GDA and the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA), covering land acquisition, ownership and management.GDA vice-chairperson Nand Kishore Kalal has constituted a seven-member committee headed by Authority’s secretary to prepare the report. The panel has been given 10 days to submit its findings to the state govt.GDA had sent a proposal to the govt after its board approved a 50:50 model with UPCA for developing the stadium.“The govt has sought details on the money required for land acquisition under the model, the head under which the GDA will provide funds and details of the land parcel,” a GDA official said.It has also sought details of the proposed model for ownership, management and operation of the stadium, besides the mechanism for sharing profits between the two partners, the official said.The committee has started work on the queries and is expected to submit its report within the stipulated period, the official added.The stadium project was originally to be developed by UPCA. During his visit to Ghaziabad in June 2025, chief minister Yogi Adityanath directed GDA to take up the project. Authority and UPCA subsequently agreed to jointly develop it.On the ground, fencing work has begun at the proposed site. GDA has also approved a proposal to construct an embankment around the stadium to protect it from annual flooding by Hindon.The stadium is estimated to cost around Rs 450 crore, including Rs 70 crore for land acquisition. UPCA has purchased more than 31 acres in Morti from around 100 farmers for Rs 70 crore. The proposed stadium is expected to have a seating capacity of 35,000 to 40,000 spectators.
