LUCKNOW: A 26-year-old man who suspected his girlfriend of infidelity allegedly strangled her in a hotel room in UP’s Ambedkar Nagar.After committing the murder on Thursday evening, the accused allegedly consumed poison and informed the girl’s mother and police on UP 112that they had consumed poison.“A police team rushed to the hotel and shifted the couple to a community health centre, where doctors declared Priya dead. Medical examination revealed strangulation marks on her neck. Kuldeep was later referred to the Government Medical College at Saddarpur for treatment and is out of danger,” said Ambedkar Nagar SP Prachi Singh.Police said the accused, Kuldeep Gaur, and the victim, Priya, 20, were neighbours in Ambedkar Nagar, and were in arelationship for three years.Police said Kuldeep recently returned from Mumbai, where he works at a shipping company.Police said Kuldeep sent Rs 10,000 to Priya every month as pocket money and for her personal expenses.According to police, Kuldeep had begun suspecting that Priya was speaking to another youth, leading to frequent arguments between the two. On Thursday, he had called Priya to the hotel, where they checked into a room around 5pm.Police said an argument broke out between them over the suspicion and Kuldeep strangled Priya in a fit of rage.SP said the accused is undergoing treatment and evidence has been collected from the hotel.
