Gorakhpur: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday said Uttar Pradesh has developed a robust ecosystem over the past nine years to ensure that every young person gets opportunities aligned with their abilities, interests and aspirations.Addressing the fifth Foundation Day celebrations of Mahayogi Gorakhnath University (MGUG), he said the state’s investments in education, skill development, infrastructure, startups, MSMEs and industry are helping convert youth potential into employment and economic prosperity.The CM said opportunities for young people today extend far beyond govt jobs and include entrepreneurship, research, innovation, the digital economy and startups. He stressed that education should not be limited to earning degrees but should empower students to solve real-world problems, create opportunities and become innovators and job creators.Calling on universities to remain connected to societal needs, Yogi said institutions should not function as “islands” but serve as centres of knowledge, innovation and economic transformation. He urged students to become “future-ready” by developing the skills, vision and adaptability required in a rapidly changing world.Highlighting Gorakhpur’s potential, the CM said the city could emerge as a major regional hub for education, healthcare, agriculture and innovation. He also underscored the importance of integrating traditional Indian knowledge systems with modern science and technology to drive future innovation and economic growth.MGUG vice-chancellor Lt Gen Bhupesh Kumar Goyal said the university has expanded rapidly since its inception, with the number of academic programmes rising from 12 to 53 in five years.During the event, Yogi released two books published by the university, felicitated outstanding students, faculty members and staff, and planted a sapling on the campus as part of environmental conservation efforts.
