Lucknow: A sum of Rs 2,180 crore has been earmarked for development projects for the state capital in the UP Budget 2026–27 presented on Wednesday.The allocations are for projects across sectors, mainly infrastructure, tourism, healthcare, technology and public services, with multiple schemes proposed to strengthen urban facilities and institutional capacity in the city. In the urban development sector, around Rs 800 crore has been proposed for infrastructure works under the city development area and other development authorities. These funds are expected to be used for civic infrastructure, road works, public amenities, and other development activities. Among major public projects, the govt has allocated Rs 550 crore for the expansion of the Lucknow Metro project. Of this, Rs 400 crore will be used to pay liabilities, while Rs 150 crore has been earmarked for the development of infrastructure on the east–west corridor.Besides, the govt has allocated Rs 50 crore for the Rashtra Prerna Sthal project for management, operation, security, and maintenance to ensure the site’s long-term upkeep. Tourism and environmental infrastructure have also received attention, with the Kukrail Night Safari project being allocated Rs 207 crore in the current budget. The safari, planned in the Kukrail forest area, is expected to promote eco-tourism, generate employment, and attract visitors once completed. In the agriculture and marketing sector, construction of a Kisan Agri Mall in Vikalp Khand, Gomtinagar, is underway at an estimated cost of Rs 76.41 crore. The facility is intended to support farmers by providing better marketing, storage, and processing infrastructure for agricultural produce. Healthcare infrastructure in the city is also set to benefit as the Kalyan Singh Super Speciality Cancer Institute has been allocated about Rs 326 crore, which is expected to strengthen cancer treatment services, expand facilities and improve access to advanced care. The Budget also includes provisions for expansion of trauma centre facilities, improvement of infrastructure in medical colleges, construction of hostels and hospital buildings, promotion of digital health systems and steps to strengthen super-speciality medical services. The Budget also provides for strengthening veterinary and administrative infrastructure. Construction works have been proposed at the Animal Husbandry Department campus in Badshahbagh, including residential quarters for staff and development of basic infrastructure such as roads, drains, parking facilities, septic tanks and borewells. Around Rs 5 crore has been allocated for these works. In the technology and innovation sector, the govt has proposed establishing a U-Hub in Lucknow and Gautambudh Nagar as part of efforts to promote startups and entrepreneurship. The hub is planned as a state-level platform to encourage innovation and collaboration among industry, investors, and institutions. Around Rs 70 crore has been provided for its establishment, along with an additional capital provision of about Rs 30 crore for infrastructure and related facilities. Another proposal in the technology and security sector is the establishment of a Cyber Security or Cyber War Centre in the city, with an estimated allocation of about Rs 95 crore, aimed at strengthening cyber monitoring and digital infrastructure protection.
