Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister Y Khemchand Singh on Monday said Union Health Minister JP Nadda has agreed to upgrade RIMS, Imphal, to the status of an AIIMS.
Singh, who is in New Delhi, made the remarks after meeting Nadda to discuss issues related to improving the health sector in the state.
In a social media post, Singh said, “The Union minister has agreed to upgrade the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences in Imphal to the status of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).”
Singh expressed his gratitude to Nadda for taking steps towards improving healthcare in the state.
He also said Nadda had agreed to approve a proposal for setting up a new medical college in Senapati district.
