Dibrugarh: Union agriculture minister and former Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan hit the campaign trail in Bokakhat’s tea gardens on Sunday, rallying support for sitting AGP MLA and state agriculture minister Atul Bora, who is eyeing a historic third consecutive win in the April 9 polls. In a symbolic outreach to the tea community, Chouhan walked through the lush Bokakhat gardens, warmly interacting with women tea pluckers and joining them in plucking green leaves. The gesture drew cheers from the crowd, underscoring the NDA’s focus on tea garden welfare.“Tea is not just a crop — it’s Assam’s lifeblood. The NDA under PM Narendra Modi is committed to the welfare of tea garden workers and their families. A vote for Atul Bora is a vote for a government that sees you, hears you, and works for you,” Chouhan told the pluckers.Later, addressing a packed rally in Bokakhat alongside BJP state president Dilip Saikia, Chouhan praised Bora’s leadership and track record.“Atul Bora ji has served Bokakhat with sincerity and commitment. He has delivered, and he deserves the chance to finish what he started. I urge every voter to bless him with a third mandate,” he said.Saikia echoed the call, highlighting the strength of the BJP-AGP alliance and the development delivered by the “double-engine” govt.“The NDA is united and strong. Together, we’ve transformed Assam — and Atul Bora is central to that journey,” Saikia said.Bora, 65, is AGP’s party president and a key figure in Assam politics, with deep roots in Bokakhat’s tea community. His tenure as agriculture minister has seen him champion the interests of farmers and garden workers — a record his campaign is banking on in the final stretch.
