Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian criticised what he described as a double standard over nuclear weapons and international inspections during his UN General Assembly address. Pezeshkian pointed to Israel’s nuclear capabilities and its status outside the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, while questioning why Iran faces demands for inspections. He also accused Israel of carrying out attacks and assassinations and alleged that its military campaign in Gaza has caused more than 70,000 deaths. Israel has rejected allegations of genocide and says its military operations are aimed at Hamas.
