Chandigarh: DGP Ajay Singhal on Saturday announced that Haryana police will soon implement a “Shagun Yojana,” under which financial assistance of ₹2.5 lakh will be provided from the Haryana Police Welfare Fund for the marriage of daughters of police personnel. There is also a plan to enhance this assistance to ₹5 lakh in the future.While chairing the meeting of B-level officers at ERSS headquarters here, Singhal said that throughout his service career, the welfare of the force and their families remained his highest priority and that he will continue to work with the same commitment. He clarified that at the police headquarters level, welfare is not just a thought but is backed by concrete planning and effective implementation. With this objective, he, along with his wife, visited Rohtak district to interact with police families and expressed his intent to visit all police lines across the state in the future. Singhal informed that the Haryana police made arrangements for various allowances and facilities for its personnel so that they can discharge their duties without concern. He added that the Chief Minister clearly directed that the police force working under challenging circumstances should be provided every possible facility to keep their morale high.Expansion of Modern Educational FacilitiesIn the field of education, 22 DAV Police Public Schools were established for the children of police families, where concessions are being provided to students and free education is being extended to the children of deceased personnel. Approximately 1,200 students are benefiting daily from these institutions. Discussions were also held on expanding e-libraries and smart classroom facilities in police lines, focusing on technical aspects to ensure modern and technology-based education for children.
