Nagpur: Umred police on Wednesday arrested four persons, including a woman, for allegedly cheating people by promising to supply high-value fake currency notes in exchange for smaller sums. Police also recovered wildlife body parts and narcotics from the accused.Acting on a tip-off that some individuals were moving around the Ghatali Road area of Umred city with fake notes for sale, police under SP Rural Harsh A Poddar and addl SP Anil Mhaske intercepted a car.The vehicle was brought to the police station and searched in the presence of the occupants — Kuldeep Kashyap (36) of Karnal Haryana, Mohit Kashyap (26) and Gaurav Kashyap (25), both of Panipat, also in Haryana, along with a woman.Police recovered six bundles of Rs100 notes, 99 notes of Rs10, paper, glass, a machine and locker, chemical bottles and other material.A bag containing a blackbuck horn, a deer horn and a tiger tooth was also found, along with 4.34 grams of a black-chocolate coloured narcotic substance valued at Rs21,700 kept in a metal container. The total value of seized goods, including the vehicle, cash and narcotics, stands at Rs7.90 lakh.Investigation revealed the accused would show the equipment, collect money from citizens promising fake notes in return, and then flee without delivering anything.Akshay Patil of Umred had also been named in the case registered under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, relevant provisions of the Wildlife Protection Act and the NDPS Act. Investigation is under way.
