Ukraine struck industrial infrastructure in Russia‘s Samara region on Saturday, local authorities said.
Ivan Noskov, head of the regional capital Samara, said air defences had repelled a “massive attack” but the city’s industrial infrastructure sustained localized damage, without giving further details about which facility was affected.
Footage released by the Ukrainian defense manufacturer Fire Point, which manufactures Flamingo missiles, showed two missiles being launched ahead of the attack. An analysis by the Telegram channel ASTRA suggested the struck facility could be Aviakor aircraft manufacturing plant or the Progress Rocket and Space Center. The Moscow Times has not independently confirmed this assessment.
Ukraine has previously targeted the southwestern region’s Syzran oil refinery on the Volga River as part of its campaign to strike energy infrastructure and pressure Russia to end the more than four-year conflict.
