Yavatmal: Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) members on Thursday staged demonstrations and burnt effigy of party Member of Parliament (MP) Sanjay Deshmukh who reportedly is among the six MPs who are reportedly set to join deputy CM Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena. A large number of UBT activists gathered at the Don Panja Chowk to register their protest.Hundreds of protesters, including party’s women’s wing members, expressed their outrage by hitting the effigy and raising slogans against Deshmukh.MLA Sanjay Derkar led senior functionaries of Sena (UBT), women’s wing representatives, and a large number of party supporters during the protest.Protesters alleged that Deshmukh had betrayed the trust reposed in him by both the voters and the party during the Lok Sabha elections. They asserted that the people of Yavatmal would never forgive those who betray their mandate. “This is only the beginning. We will not allow traitors to move freely in the district,” they warned. The high-voltage agitation has significantly heated the political atmosphere in Yavatmal, with observers predicting that the confrontation could intensify further in the coming days.
