Two terrorists were killed in an encounter with security forces in Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir during a joint encounter codenamed Operation Trashi-I, Army said on Sunday.

According to White Knight Corps of Indian Army, the operation was launched following credible intelligence inputs received from Jammu and Kashmir Police, Intelligence Bureau and other security agencies about the presence and movement of terrorists in the area.

Troops of the White Knight Corps, in close coordination with Jammu and Kashmir Police and Central Reserve Police Force, established contact with the terrorists and re-engaged them at around 11:00 am on Sunday in difficult terrain of Kishtwar.

During the encounter, security forces successfully neutralised two terrorists. A large cache of arms and ammunition, including two AK-47 rifles and other war-like stores, was also recovered from the site, officials said.

The Indian Army, in a post on X, said the operation demonstrated effective coordination and tactical precision by the joint forces, adding that search operations in the area are continuing to rule out the presence of any other terrorists.
