Udupi: Malpe police have booked two separate cases following a clash between fishermen at Malpe port on Thursday. Police said that Jayesh Kotyan, who is involved in the fishing business, owes money to Harish. While Harish was at the auction shed at Malpe port in Kodavoor village, Jayesh Kotyan’s mother, Bharati Kotyan, Uday Poojari alias Kori Uday, Sheku Katapadi and Parushottam arrived in a car. They allegedly verbally abused Harish in Tulu, grabbed him by the neck and pushed him onto the concrete road.Jayesh Kotyan allegedly kicked Harish in the chest and private parts with his bare feet. Jayesh Kotyan attempted to stab Harish with a knife, but the latter managed to escape. Later, locals admitted Harish to a hospital in Udupi. A video of the assault on Harish was recorded by someone and circulated on social media.A complaint was filed demanding legal action against Jayesh Kotyan and others in connection with the assault. A case has been registered at Malpe police station under Sections 189(2), 191(2), 191(3), 352, 115(2), 109 along with 190 of the BNS.In another case, Jayesh Kotyan’s mother, Bharati Kotyan, filed a complaint against Harish. Accordingly, a case under Sections 189(2), 191(2), 191(3), 352, 115(2), 109, 74 along with 190 of the BNS has been registered.SP Hariram Shankar said both cases have been registered and are under investigation.
