Nagpur: Two newly renovated post offices in the city, at Shankar Nagar and Ayodhya Nagar, were virtually inaugurated on Monday by Union minister of communications Jyotiraditya Scindia and Union minister of state for communications and rural development Chandrashekhar Pemmasani.The Shankar Nagar post office was locally inaugurated by mayor Neeta Thakre, in the presence of NMC standing committee chairperson Shivani Dani-Wakhre and corporator Yogesh Pachpor. The Ayodhya Nagar branch was inaugurated by Nagpur South MLA Mohan Mate, along with director of postal services, Maharashtra circle, Simran Kaur.Both facilities were revamped under India Post‘s ‘Jan Seva Connect’ project, with the department saying the upgraded infrastructure would offer postal, savings bank and postal life insurance services in a more accessible and customer-friendly environment.The redesigned post offices follow a concept developed by National School of Planning and Architecture, featuring rounded corners for safety, an information wall and a more user-friendly, modern layout aimed at improving the visitor experience, Kaur told TOI.Director of postal services for the Nagpur postal region, Sudhir Jakhare, said that the makeover was the result of work carried out over the past six months. “It is aimed at giving India Post a new corporate look and greater professionalism in service delivery,” he said at the Shankar Nagar event.The event also featured the public launch of two mobile applications for customers and employees. Dak Seva offers access to India Post’s core and PLI/RPLI services, letting users locate post offices, book services, track items, request pickups and file grievances, with simpler booking available in 23 regional languages. The Dak Mitra is being rolled out across the department’s 1.3 lakh post offices for booking, bulk and international mail processing, and OTP-based verification.
