COIMBATORE: The Coimbatore district police arrested three men in connection with two separate murder cases reported in Karumathampatti and Sultanpet police station limits on Wednesday.The first murder occurred near Ramachiyampalayam around 3.30pm. S Devadass, 35, of Salem, who was residing at Karanampettai in Tirupur district, was stabbed to death near the Noyyal river. Preliminary inquiries revealed that Devadass had a quarrel a month ago with P Ranjith, 24, of Ramachiyampalayam. On Wednesday, Ranjith and his friend, J Ashok, 20, spotted Devadass drinking at a TASMAC shop and followed him.Confronting him over the past dispute, Ranjith stabbed Devadass in the chest, after which Ashok took the same knife and stabbed him again, killing him.Following a search, police nabbed both suspects while they were hiding in a forested area near Karumathampatti Pudur.The second murder happened at Gandhi Nagar in Silakkaraisal around 4.10pm on Wednesday. A Senthilkumar, 39, was returning home on a two-wheeler after having tea with friends when he noticed his neighbour, T Kannan, 35, shouting. Senthilkumar confronted him, and an argument ensued. Kannan hit Senthilkumar behind his left ear with a log. Senthilkumar collapsed, and 108 ambulance personnel declared him dead.The Sultanpet police arrested Kannan.All three arrested men were remanded in judicial custody.
