Pune: Two people collectively lost Rs 29.16 lakh in separate online share-trading frauds between August and Oct last year.They filed online complaints. After investigations, separate cases were registered with the Khadki and Mundhwa police on Tuesday.A Khadki-resident (45), who lost Rs 21.36 lakh in an online share-trading fraud between Sept and Oct last year, stated in his complaint that the crooks added him to a group of investors on a mobile messenger app.The victim was given online training about trading in the stock market. “After the training, the victim invested some amounts and immediately got good returns,” an officer from the Khadki police said.He said the victim then went on investing amounts in the stocks as per the guidance. The victim transferred Rs 21.36 lakh to different bank accounts given to him by the crooks from Sept to Oct last year.The police officer said he was told that he earned a profit of Rs 1 crore on his investments, but when he tried to withdraw, the crooks demanded Rs 10 lakh as a commission. “The victim realised that he was being duped and approached the police,” he said.In Mundhwa case, an NGO worker (43) lost Rs 7.8 lakh to the cybercrooks between Aug and Sept last year. Using the same modus operandi, the crooks added him to a group of investors and assured him good profit on his investments. They took money from him to the different bank accounts and showed him that the latter earned a profit of Rs 45 lakh on his investments.When the victim tried to withdraw his money, the crooks stopped responding to him and duped him. The victim filed an online complaint.
