Chennai: Two people died in different accidents in Poonamallee and Madhavaram on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning. In the first incident, an electrician named Prakash, 25, a resident of Rajiv Gandhi Nagar in Nazarathpet, died after his bike collided with a govt bus on the Poonamallee-Bengaluru National Highway. Prakash was travelling with his friend Surya, 20, on pillion, when the accident occurred. Prakash died on the spot while Surya, who sustained critical injuries, was rushed to Kilpauk Govt Hospital by the Avadi Traffic Investigation Police. Police arrested the driver, identified as Ayyappan, 50, and investigation is underway.In another accident, Sathyaraj, 57, a resident of Ambedkar Nagar, was killed in a hit-and-run. The incident occurred on Wednesday morning as he was riding home on his bike from Moolakadai. When he reached Ponniamman Medu, an unidentified vehicle rammed his two-wheeler, throwing him off the vehicle. He was run over and died on the spot. A case has been registered, and police are examining CCTV footage from nearby areas to trace the vehicle. tnn
