Thiruvananthapuram: Kadinamkulam police arrested two history-sheeters for allegedly moral policing a woman and assaulting her male friend at Shantipuram.The accused were identified as Lijo, 37, alias Appu and Sajin, 29, both natives of Kadinamkulam. After the incident, the accused went into hiding and were later arrested from Kadinamkulam following a tip-off, police said. According to officials, Lijo is a habitual offender with over 25 criminal cases registered against him in Kadinamkulam and Kazhakkoottam police station limits. His criminal record includes serious offences such as murder, attempt to murder and cases under the NDPS Act. Police added that he was earlier booked under the provisions of Kaapa (Kerala Anti-Social Activities Prevention Act) and was recently out on bail. In another incident, a separate case was registered against them for trespassing into a youth’s residence and issuing death threats. Both accused were produced before court and remanded in judicial custody. Further investigation is under way.
