Vadodara: Anand Town police arrested two accused for allegedly cheating Shri Ganesh Angadia firm near Gamdiwad of around Rs 45 lakh.The accused were identified as Anilkumar Chamanlal Shrichandbhai Mathwani (47), a resident of Dholka in Ahmedabad district and Amitkumar Shankarlal Parsotamdas Khatri (35), a resident of Vadodara.According to police, the accused gave a false identity at Shri Ganesh Angadia firm and collected Rs 45 lakh belonging to complainant Narendra Mafatlal Shah, a Mumbai resident.The money was not handed over to the actual owner, following which Shah lodged a complaint with Anand Town police on Saturday.During the investigation, police examined CCTV footage from entry and exit points in Anand and gathered information through human sources. The surveillance team learnt that two persons allegedly involved in the cheating were travelling in a grey Hyundai i20 towards Vadodara.Acting on the information, police teams kept watch near the Gamdi overbridge. When the vehicle arrived from the Nadiad side, they intercepted it and brought the two occupants to the police station for questioning. Police said the suspects admitted to the offence, following which they were arrested.Police said a similar offence had earlier been registered against both the accused at the Surat DCB, indicating their involvement in a similar case.
