Bettiah: Two minor girls drowned while bathing in a pond at Pakad Ganw village under Bagaha Nagar police station area in West Champaran district on Friday afternoon. The deceased were identified as Ujala Kumari (11), daughter of Sunil Kumar, and Deepa Kumari (12), daughter of Rakesh Ram.According to family members, the girls had gone to bathe in the village pond when they accidentally entered a deep section and started drowning. Locals rushed to the spot, pulled them out of the water and took them to the Bagaha subdivisional hospital with the help of their families.However, doctors at the hospital declared both girls dead on arrival. “Both the girls had died before being brought to the hospital,” said Dr SP Agrawal, who was on duty. News of their deaths triggered scenes of grief at the hospital. The family members later took the bodies home.
