T’puram: The sixth additional district court here sentenced two men to life imprisonment for the murder of a woman following a dispute over a property boundary at Neyyattinkara in 2022. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 each on the accused.The convicts were identified as P Anish, 32, and Nikhil A, 25.The court ordered that the convicts undergo an additional six months rigorous imprisonment each if they fail to pay the fine. Judge Rekha R directed that the fine amount be paid to the daughter of the deceased. The judge also directed the district legal services authority to take necessary steps for providing eligible compensation to the victim’s family.According to the prosecution, Vijayakumari of Onamkode in Neyyattinkara was killed following enmity that arose from a dispute over a boundary. The prosecution alleged that the accused trespassed into the woman’s house compound on Sept 9, 2022, around 2.45pm.The two attacked Vijayakumari using firewood sticks. They allegedly struck her on the neck and stabbed her during the attack. She sustained serious injuries and later died.The prosecution presented evidence before the court to establish the involvement of the two accused in the murder. Following the trial, the court found both accused guilty and awarded them life imprisonment.District govt pleader and public prosecutor A R Shaji appeared for the prosecution.
