Hazaribag: Two alleged members of the notorious Rahul Dubey-led gang were arrested after a gunfight in Giddi area of Hazaribag district in the early hours of Saturday, police said. The accused, identified as Badal Kumar and Mohit Kumar, both in their thirties, sustained bullet injuries in their legs in the exchange of fire.While Badal is a resident of CCL Colony in Hanumangarhi under Patratu police station in Ramgarh district, Mohit is a resident Baral police station area in Ramgarh.Saturday’s gunfight is the third such incident in recent weeks. On July 30, two alleged members of the Dubey-led gang were arrested after in Bukru village in Keredari block of the district. One of them sustained a bullet injury to his leg. On Aug 7, an alleged member of Prince Khan-led gang was arrested after being hit by a bullet in his leg in Barkagaon.SP Aman Kumar said a special investigation team led by Barkagaon sub-divisional police officer Amit Anand launched a search operation a forested area and intensified checking near the old weigh bridge on the Giddi-Bhurkunda Road a little after 2:30 am based on a tip-off that members of the gang were heading towards Bhurkunda in Ramgarh district on a motorcycle to execute a criminal act at a coal mining or transportation site in Giddi.Around 3.50 am, police spotted three men riding a motorcycle towards Bhurkunda. When asked to stop, they allegedly turned around and tried to flee. During the chase, the trio fell from the motorcycle and ran into a nearby forest. “The suspects opened fire despite repeated warnings to surrender. Police personnel opened retaliatory fire. Badal and Mohit sustained injuries to their legs while the third managed to flee,” police said in a statement. They were admitted to Sadar Hospital and are undergoing treatment.The duo allegedly revealed during interrogation that they are active members of the Dubey-led gang and had been acting on the instructions of gangster Deepak Karmali alias Nepalese, who is currently lodged in Ramgarh jail.
