Amidst the proud moments of a retired JCO T N Mishra, two of his sons donned their uniforms on the same day, each commissioned from separate esteemed academies of the Indian Army.

Patna: It was a proud moment for T N Mishra, a retired junior commissioned officer, as his two sons were commissioned into the Indian Army on the same day on Saturday. While one son passed out from the OTA, Gaya, the other was commissioned from OTA, Chennai.In another inspiring moment, Santosh Kumar, a vegetable seller from Rajasthan, saw his son not only commissioned into the Indian Army but also receive a silver medal at the ceremony.Mishra’s elder son, Deepak Kumar Mishra, was commissioned at OTA Gaya, while his younger son, Krishna Kumar Mishra, was commissioned hundreds of kilometres away from here at OTA, Chennai.Hailing from Ballia district in Uttar Pradesh, Deepak hold a master’s degree in computer science and also worked in the corporate sector as a network operating centre engineer for over three years.Both Deepak and Krishna represent the third generation of soldiers in their family after their father and grandfather. Their grandfather and father both served the country for nearly 30 years each in the Corps of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers (EME) and retired with the honorary rank of Subedar Major.Kuldeep, a native of Barmer district in Rajasthan, made his father, who used to sell vegetables, proud by bagging a silver medal for the officer cadet standing second in the order of merit and getting the ‘Sword of Honour’. He holds a chemical engineering degree.
