Pune: Special Branch (SB) of the city police registered two separate cases on Friday against two five-star hotels for failing to submit information about foreign guests within a stipulated time frame.Foreign nationals staying at hotels, homestays, guest houses or other accommodation facilities must have their details submitted online to the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) within 24 hours of their arrival. Cases have been registered against the managers of the two five-star hotels for failing to comply.One of the cases was registered with the Chatushrungi police against a hotel on Senapati Bapat Road. According to the complaint, an Italian had been staying in the hotel since June 7, but the hotel management did not submit his details until much later on July 19. It was a delay of 39 days.According to the police, the hotel management was told to submit a written explanation within seven days. The explanation was found to be unsatisfactory, and a case was registered under the Immigration and Foreigners Act.The other case was registered by the SB officials with the Bund Garden police against a five-star hotel on Rajabahadur Mill Road for failing to submit the details of a Chinese national. The Chinese guest came to Pune and started staying at the hotel, but his details were not submitted within the prescribed 24-hour deadline.
