Thiruvananthapuram: Suresh Kumar, 46, the prime accused in the murder of his wife Haseena Beevi at Nalanchira, was found dead on a railway track in Chidambaram, Tamil Nadu, on Thursday. The body was recovered while police teams were searching for him after he allegedly murdered Beevi, 36, and fled the city in his car. Preliminary investigations indicate that it was a case of suicide.After the murder, Suresh allegedly fled with around Rs 15,000. Police tracked his movements through CCTV footage, which showed his vehicle travelling from Nalanchira towards Nemom. Police said he left his mobile phone near a hotel at Killipalam in an apparent attempt to mislead investigators before entering Tamil Nadu.Police said the car used by Suresh to escape was found abandoned near Balaramapuram railway station. Investigators believe he crossed into Tamil Nadu by train and later died after jumping in front of a train. Police have initiated further proceedings and are coordinating with Tamil Nadu police.Suresh allegedly murdered his wife at their residence in Nalanchira on Wednesday. Police said the couple had been going through an acrimonious marital life and had even attended a counselling session at a police station a day before the incident, where they agreed to continue living together.However, an argument reportedly broke out at their house in the early hours of Wednesday. Police said Suresh suspected Beevi of having an extramarital relationship. Following the dispute, she went to the bedroom in the upstairs. Suresh who followed her, allegedly scolded her and slit her throat with a knife.The murder was committed when the family members, including four children and Beevi’s mother, were present. The couple’s elder daughter alerted the Mannanthala police soon after the incident.The postmortem examination revealed a deep wound on the neck that severed bones in the neck. Doctors also found a fatal stab injury to the chest, which police said contributed to her death.
