Chennai: Leader of opposition Udhayanidhi Stalin on Sunday alleged that TVK was levelling false charges on DMK out of frustration that it was unable to break DMK just like the way it was splitting AIADMK.Taking a dig at chief minister C Joseph Vijay for his earlier statement that he would not let any corrupt go scot-free, Udhayanidhi said he was anticipating stern action on those facing corruption charges. “But only now I realise that Vijay had meant that he would not let the corrupt go anywhere and would induct them into TVK.Speaking at a party event in Chennai, Udhayanidhi said Vijay was frustrated that DMK was strong even after the electoral defeat and that he could not split the party. It was because of the frustration that they are levelling false charges, he said.“They are saying DMK was attempting to buy TVK MLAs. Why would we do that. We don’t even who their MLAs are,’’ Udhayanidhi said.He said DMK considered AIADMK as its enemy in the assembly poll. “We achieved our objective of defeating AIADMK. But we failed to see who the real opponent was (TVK). It will not happen the next time,’’ he said.Earlier in the day, Udhayanidhi said the TVK govt was a `political disaster’ for Tamil Nadu and that DMK will safeguard TN from that disaster. He also flayed former allies of DMK who joined TVK.“Few (of the allies) have left us after receiving ‘sofa’. They don’t criticise TVK, fearing the sofa would be snatched back,’’ he said. Even though such allies left DMK, Muslims have not parted ways with DMK, he said.Udhayanidhi also shared his stage with NTK chief coordinator Seeman in the function.Responding to Udhayanidhi for his “political disaster” remarks, TVK IT wing hit back at DMK. “The real disaster to Tamil Nadu was when a family occupied the entire DMK after Anna (former CM C N Annadurai) and the same family overthrowing MGR (former CM M G Ramachandran) from the party, “TVK said in a statement.
