Kendrapada: Police on Wednesday arrested a 40-year-old tuition teacher in Kendrapada district for allegedly molesting an 11-year-old girl. A local court rejected his bail plea and remanded him to judicial custody, said investigating officer Manas Kumar Mallick.The incident came to light on Tuesday evening after the Class V student refused to attend her tuition classes at the accused’s house in the village. When her parents questioned her, she divulged that the teacher had allegedly molested her on Monday.The survivor’s mother lodged an FIR on Wednesday, accusing the teacher of inappropriate physical contact with her daughter. Police registered a case and arrested the accused after preliminary investigation.The accused was booked under many sections of BNS, including provisions related to outraging a woman’s modesty, unwelcome physical contact, wrongful restraint and criminal intimidation, along with Section 12 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012.
