Mapusa: The Ravindra Bhavan project at Tuem in Pernem taluka has received clearance, with officials stating that construction is expected to commence in Aug and be completed within 30 months.Spread across 50,000sqm, the project is estimated to cost Rs 113.2 crore. Officials confirmed the timeline following a planning committee meeting held on Thursday and chaired by Mandrem MLA Jit Arolkar.Chief minister Pramod Sawant laid the foundation stone for the project on March 31.The complex is designed to provide infrastructure for local talent and will feature an 850-seat main auditorium on the ground floor, along with an open-air theatre. Together, the two venues will have a seating capacity of over 5,000.The facility will also include a dance section, recording studio, exhibition gallery, automated folding arena theatre, and a Taluka Museum on the first floor.Of the total project cost, Rs 78.6 crore has been earmarked for civil construction, while Rs 11.8 crore has been allocated for interior works. The project is expected to boost the art, culture and theatre sectors in Pernem.
