US President Donald Trump on Wednesday welcomed Chinese President Xi Jinping at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland, marking the start of Xi’s three-day state visit for US-China summit.During the ceremonial welcome, two US Air Force B-1 bombers flew overhead as part of the military honours. Trump’s reaction to the powerful roar caught attention on camera, with the US president visibly wincing as the bombers passed over the airbase.Trump and Xi were standing side by side on the tarmac when the aircraft flew overhead. Xi, standing beside him, appeared to maintain a composed expression and showed no similarly visible reaction.The B-1 flyover was one of several military elements incorporated into the elaborate reception for Xi, who arrived in Washington for a US-China summit.The ceremony also featured a 100-foot-long red carpet, a salute battery, a 21-person honour cordon and colour teams carrying the US and Chinese flags. The US Air Force Band played a fanfare followed by the national anthems of the two countries, while platoons representing the US military services also took part.Xi’s visit is expected to focus on trade and tariffs, technology, artificial intelligence, military ties, Taiwan and other geopolitical issues, including Iran and the Russia-Ukraine war.
